System Setting

System settings are used to control and configure behaviour of the Learndot application. If you need to change an aspect of Learndot configuration, such as which fields are marked as required or what tax rate to use on courses, It will generally be achieved through modification of settings.

Control your System Settings

At the core of Learndot exists a whole new world of System Settings. These System settings make your site and components behave in a way you would want them to!. With this initiative, we want to give you the power to control your own platform. Configure Learndot the way you want it. Simply search for the right System setting, proceed to make and save the changes that suit your requirements.

You must have administrative privileges to perform the changes on your platform's system setting.

Learndot is configurable in various ways to support specific use-cases or requirements. This gives the Administrator or anyone with System Setting Read/Write Permissions the power to control how Learndot and its related components behave. We have compiled a list (which is growing steadily) of most common System Settings that allow you to change the behaviour of a variety of components in Learndot.

To modify the System Settings, you will need to log in to Learndot as an Administrator, or a be assigned to a custom staff role that has System Setting Read/Write Permissions. Once logged in:

  • Navigate to the Administration User Interface, and select "Setup" (If you have the appropriate permissions, you should now be able to select the 'System Settings' module, as shown below.)
  • You can then search for the System Settings you are looking for, either by name or by type, via the Advanced button.
  • Once you have managed to locate the desired settings in a search, you can click the edit icon as shown in the screenshot below. This will bring you up the edit form, where you can modify the settings values as appropriate.

Some useful tips for searching:

  • If you want to alter the configuration of an aspect of Learndot, try searching for the relevant module name
  • If you are unable to locate the desired setting, you can try emailing for assistance

Editing Settings

Before you modify any values, it is often handy to make a 'backup' by just taking note of the setting name and current value before you change it.

The exact way in which modifications will need to be made is dependant on the setting, but there is a general checklist that can apply to any settings changes that you make:

  1. Use the Description field for guidance as to how to use the setting, and what it does.
  2. Use the Type and default Value to work out what input is expected in the Value field.
  3. Ensure that Enabled is set to 'Yes' if you want the setting to apply.

Just perform a quick search using the search bar below or expand any relevant component (e.g., Themes, Account Management, Privacy policy, etc) to view all common actions that can be performed using the System Settings. Most of the System Settings also have screenshots that help illustrate a sample impact of changing each setting.
