Overview

For our customers to be clear on Learndot used terms and to avoid confusion within our documentations, here's a list of Definitions for Terms used within Learndot Enterprise.

Glossary of Key Learndot Enterprise Terms

TermDefinition
CourseA Course is the content covered in a number of Learning Components. A course is made up of one or many of Learning Components. A user can purchase a course and complete each part in order to pass the course.
Learning ComponentA piece of learning material within a course. A section contains 1 or more Learning Components within a course.
eLearning ComponentAn interactive Course consisting of either a SCORM package or an imported Youtube Video.
Instructor Led Training Course ComponentA training Live session led by an instructor. These are either held online as a Live Webinar session or as part of an Event at a particular Location.
EventA Class Event is an Instructor Led Training Course which has an Date & Time, Location and Instructor.
Content ComponentA component consisting of resources that should be examined or completed when completing a course. This can include Digital, Link or Virtual Machine resources.
Assessment ComponentA component consisting of resources relating to examinable content. An Assessment Component can link to an external exam or quiz.
Digital ResourcesConsists of any content (such as .docx, .pdf, .exe) which is downloadable by a contact. A resource can be added to any component as supplementary documentation.
Link ResourcesConsists of a link to an URL that the contact should browse to.
Virtual MachinesConsists of a Virtual Machine details in order to complete Lab Exercises in a virtual environment.
Learning PlanA Learning Plan is an individual users plan for their learning. A Contact can add available items such as components to their learning plan and track their progress. Suggested Dates and Enrollment links are also provided for the user.
AssessmentsAllow instructors to understand public class attendees experience and objectives in more detail.
SurveysContain a list of questions sent to attendees after attending a course to get feedback.
ForumsProvide the ability to create a learning community around a course.
Learning PathwayContains many Courses, which can be compulsory or optional. Very much like a University degree with a compulsory core of certain courses and a quota of optional elective courses.
InstructorDelivers an Instructor Led training course (ILT) to attendees
Instructor InterfaceA dashboard for each instructor to view and manage the training courses they have been assigned.
UserHas an account in the system and can log in. Users may have different levels of access i.e. be a provider, instructor, administrator or affiliate.
User ProfileA dashboard for users and customers to view and manage their quotes, purchases, training history and details in the system.
AdminA power user in the system that can create and manage all objects. Various level of Administrator can be configured although a default of all access is recommended.
Admin InterfaceA dashboard for administrators to view and manage all (or a configurable subset) of the system.
ProviderAre subsidiaries that offer training locations, courses and event through your Learndot Enterprise.
Provider InterfaceA dashboard for providers to manage their training locations, courses and running events.
AffiliatesAre 3rd parties that promote products and services for a commission on leads or sales.
Affiliate InterfaceA dashboard for affiliates to see how much traffic they have sent to your Learndot Enterprise and how many conversions have been made.
TestimonialsA written statement for a customer collected during a feedback survey - generally positive - that can be used for promotion of the product or course on the website.
BlurbsAre small, re-usable packets of content - generally text - which are used in pages. Many blurbs can be used on a single page.
Nav LinksAre used to build the options available in the main menu. By adding more links to pages and changing the hierarchy of the pages the menus are built.
PagesAre html pages which may contain blurbs. They are generally used as landing pages, information pages, for terms and conditions pages and standard static website pages.
Digital ContentThere are various types of digital content that can be used in Learndot Enterprise including electronic documents like pdf’s, multimedia audio and video, and any other file type requiring management.
Static FilesAre files you wish to be uploaded to the server, and might include logos etc.
ProductsAre something that are sold in the store.
Product CategoriesAre groupings of related product. 
CouponsProvide a discount on a Product and are applied during the purchasing process.
Automatic Discount RulesAre automatically applied to every matching purchase, and are used to create pricing bands based on quantities. For example when buying 2-5 items a discount of 5% is automatically applied, and for 6-10 a discount of 10% is automatically applied.
Manual DiscountsProvide the ability for staff to discount an Order Item in a shopping cart.

Leads

Are used to track communication with site visitors who contact staff via the ”Contact Us” page. 
Training Opportunities
Requests for customization or different event times for a course.
Talent OpportunitiesRequests for a consultant that come in via Learndot Enterprise.
OrdersContain all the items added to a shopping cart.
PaymentsA record associated to Fulfilled Orders.
Payment GatewaysA 3rd party system that integrates with Learndot Enterprise and accepts payments via credit card or other payment methods.
AccountsRepresent Organizations in Learndot Enterprise.
