Creating Learning Pathways and Steps

Learning Pathway is a route, taken by learners through a range of activities, allowing them to build knowledge progressively. Learndot Enterprise allows training companies to build learning pathways to be sold to learners, packaging them as ideal sequence of learning activities to reach proficiency.

In order to configure and use Learning Pathways in Learndot Enterprise the following should be completed:

  • Enable the feature using the system setting module.training.learning_pathway.enabled
  • Create Learning Pathway
  • Create the steps to Learning Pathway

Creating a Learning Pathway

To create a New Learning Pathway:

  1. Log into the Admin Dashboard and select Catalog > Learning Pathways.

  2. Click on New.
  3. The 'Create Learning Pathway' form then appears.

  4. Within the form fill out the required fields shown in the table below:

    Knowledge Category(tick)Knowledge Category that the Learning Pathway is categorized under.
    Name(tick)Name of Learning Pathway.
    Summary
    A brief description of the Learning Pathway.
    Description
    Description given to the Learning Pathway.
    Logo
    Component Logo, chosen with Static File Manager.
    Banner
    Component Banner, chosen with Static File Manager.
    Price(tick)

    Purchase price of Learning Pathway.

    Note: See Payment Currency for currency configuration

    Provider
    Provider of Component
    Tax Jurisdiction
    Used when specifying from which location is the Tax going to be charged.
    Purchasable(tick)Select whether the component should be purchasable through the website
    Proof of Completion(tick)Used to send the learner a proof of completion when learning is completed.
    URL Path
    Preferred URL. Leave empty to auto-generate.
    Visible To(tick)Select visibility of the Learning Pathway.
    Catalog groups
    A Catalog Group is a collection of training materials or content. 
    Order Number
    Controls the ordering of entities on the website. Higher values appear lower in the list.
  5. Once the form is complete click on the Save Button. The Learning Pathway is now ready to add some Steps.

 

Creating a Step

To create a Step for a Learning Pathway:

  1. Log in to the Admin Dashboard and select Catalog > Learning Pathways.
  2. Click on the Learning pathway that you want to add new steps
  3. On the view page, search for the 'Steps' section and click on new.
  4. The 'Create Step' form then appears.


    Within the form fill out the required fields shown in the table below:

    Learning Pathway
    Learning pathway that this Step is assigned with. Note: You can still create Steps and assign then with a Pathway in the future.
    Learning Component(tick)Defines the learning component the user has to complete for this step.
    Position
    Numbered position of this Step among the sequence of Steps in Learning Pathway.
  5. Once the form is complete click on the Save Button.
  6. These Steps are now visible with the Learning Pathway.
