  • Virtual Machine Resources - Consists of a Virtual Machine details in order to complete Lab Exercises in a virtual environment..

Terminology - What are the differences between Resources and Content Components?

A Resource is content which can be added to a Component, an Event or a Contact.

Content ComponentA set of one or more resources that must be viewed/used/visited in order to complete a course.

Relationship with Learning Components

Resources are linked to Learning Components to provide supplementary learning content to contact enrollments.
If resources are required and compulsory to visit, then such resources will be bundled in a Content Component

A Link Resource has four major properties:

  • Name - A unique name for this Link Resource.
  • URL - The fully qualified URL, for example:
  • Max number of Downloads - The maximum number of times a person can access this content, if people can download this file as many times as they like, set this to "-1"
  • Status -  Representing the state of the Link Resource.

Creating Link Resources

Link Resources are created within the Admin Dashboard by Staff.
Generally the rule of the thumb is to create Resources before creating Learning Components.
This makes it simple to choose from a list of Resources when creating the Learning Components, instead of flick back between screens in order to setup Learning Components.

To create a Link Resource, follow the steps:

  • Navigate to Catalog > Link Resources
  • Click New
  • Fill up the form (as in the screenshot above)
  • Click Save

To list all Link Resources which were created go to Catalog > Link Resources

The admin could also create a dynamic link by adding ${enrolment.XX} to the URL. From the enrolment, you can get several information:

  • Enrolment id: ${}
  • Name of the component: ${}
  • First name of the Learner: ${}

For a list of all available fields please visit our documentation page.

Adding Resources to Components

Resources can be added to any Learning Component or Course using the new Resource action.
This is done within the Admin Dashboard when viewing a Learning Component or Course.
Generally a Resource will be used as a supplementary content a contact should use or visit.

To do so:

  • Navigate to the learning component you would like to add a resource to (Catalog > under Learning Components)
  • On the right pane, click Resources under NEW

  • Fill up the form
    • A Resource is selected from a dropdown list and the time offset for when content will be available from can be set.
    • The access to the Resource can also be set so that the it is shared by all Enrollments, or a unique copy of the resource is created for every enrollment.

Resources are reusable which gives flexibility to add the same content to multiple types of Learning Components or Courses.
It also gives the option of using 3rd-party content in Learning Components.

  • Click Save

Viewing Link Resources

Link Resources are accessible when viewing enrolled Learning Components or Courses within a contacts Learning Plan. Clicking on View will take the contact to the URL specified within the Link Resource. For more information on My Learning Plan click here.
